While the HUD in LoL is decent and does what it needs to do, I feel that it has a lot of unnecessary elements in it that can be taken out.

I ask that the UI team at Riot implement an option for a more streamlined and compact HUD with the fluff taken out.

Some examples of things that can make it more compact:

  • Remove the player avatar
  • Make the HP bars smaller
  • Remove those joining bits that join the mini map and the centre part together
  • Remove the ornamental backgrounds with a simpler one

This will greatly benefit the game for rather little effort. One problem that many people have identified in this forum is that the HUD blocks the view when playing as purple. By minimizing the screen real estate the HUD blocks this helps mitigate the problem.

This will also make it easier for one to glance at the HUD and take out information quickly, because there is less meaningless graphics in the HUD that draw the eye.

I also ask the community to look at this idea and give me your thoughts on it. Is is a good idea? Have I gone too far in my suggestions? All feedback is welcome.

I've edited the UI a bit in a way you might like.

You can resize your UI through in-game settings (Interface). The wall joining the center piece on the bottom can also be disabled through in-game settings. I don't think they will remove the player avatar since it has been present in the original DotA and it's a staple of most MOBA games today.
