The recent announcement of Monday dominion tournaments is great to spread Dominion out and get it more popular.

However, until there are changes to the way you get points in Dominion, it is a waste of time in terms of trying to play Dominion on a regular basis if you dont have all of the IP/RP you want. For those who are lower levels and need to get IP to get more heroes, then playing Dominion the way it was designed it not ideal.

Right now people just around to start capturing points instead of actually attacking the enemy while 1 person captures the towers. For tournament play, Dominion can work because it's not about the points and more about the "W". This is not the same goal online necessarily, as you want that "W" and those points. Unless of course you already have all the IP/Heroes you want, in which case you wouldn't care if you got points or not.

There are definitely more areas where Dominion can be improved and for tournament play Dominion can be a staple just as SR is because in SR it doesn't matter who gets top as it's all about that "W".

TL;DR Dominion can work for tournament and for regular online play, Dominion still needs to be worked on points wise.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Personal Score has no impact on IP gains.

What gave you the idea that personal score affects IP gains?

Personal score does not effect IP gain or ELO adjustments. It is solely a way to judge your effectiveness against other players in the game.

So if I have the highest score in game... and lose... why shouldn't I gain, or at the very least not lose Elo? Why have the score system at all?

If all it does is "judge your effectiveness against other players" without compensating you accordingly all it's going to do is piss people off.

"Hey you did the best in the game by over 200 points, you lose rating. "

What are you getting at? People with higher K/D/A have been on the losing team in SR. Are you saying you believe you should gain or lose rating based on other factors besides winning or losing the match?

Yeah, if they insist on using Elo.

No rating or point system will ever perfectly gauge a person's "true skill" So trying to base your Elo off of a a system like the current Personal Score, will do more rage than good.
