Why is banshee's disabled?

There are a number of champs who also have a hard time doing damage/using their abilities if no one can pop banshees for them. Annie loses her stun completely for example, or Singed's fling.

Actually, Banshee's only blocks forcemoves (Urgot's and Blitzcrank's, as examples.); Leona and Amumu (I assume similar) still land on the target, only losing the damage.

The problem with banshee's is that the renewable spell shield is an incredibly strong mechanic in small fights (1v1 and 2v2), which are common on Dominion. It also disrupts a lot of really fun gameplay related to using your abilities to initiate, disrupt capture, and so forth. And it just plain shuts down some characters in a duel setting (Annie, Malzahar, etc). Overall, a net negative on the game -- so we yanked it.

Odyn's Veil is stronger at getting a kill, but is overall not as strong as Banshee's is *on crystal scar*.

Because losing half of your damage to one item as AP sion isn't much fun. This goes for virtually all champions, but this is probably the worst case :P

one of the things I hate is lack of items that have good actives + passives in this game

another thing is the spawn timer is being reduced isn't it? you'll be back in the fight long before it comes up again.

Since it's considered a "channel" when you're capping, only hard CCs like silence, stun, root, snare, knock-ups, and placement modifiers will affect you.
That means someone like Fiddle who only has a single hard CC on a rather long cooldown would be able to only stand there and watch helplessly as his point gets capped.
They stated this kind of channel is interruptable with any damage. And, if you're wondering, you can capture it outside turret's range.

While this is true, if Amumu hits you with a toss and you can handle it you press flash and stop the engagement this won't happen if your stunned. The stun portion on a lot of jumps is need to initiate. WW ultimate is borderline useless unless you get a stun in. Same for maokai and malphites leaps. You will still close the distance but they are a lot lot weaker and can't force engagements unless you actually get the CC which is negated.
