That's like saying "we'll nuke anybody who fights, anywhere." and then actually making good on the threat. In other words, you're giving nukes to every terrorist organization as long as they can start a fight.

All someone has to do to destroy the planet now is start a whole bunch of little wars and wait for the League to destroy the world for them, assuming the League follows through on the precedent it's just said.

In short, this move by the League, in universe, is a complete load of idiocy. It's effectively "To make sure you don't slip up and use world damaging magic, we'll hit anyone who starts a fight that isn't using world damaging magic with world damaging magic."

Sure, the article said "the bubble will be magically unstable for decades". In short, the League is being a bloated collection of morons.

TL/DR: The League is either bluffing or being stupid, or the lore writers didn't think this through.
These aren't terrorist organizations, these are two city-states in flagrant disobedience of League mandates. I'm fairly sure this show of force will be referenced as clear reason not to toe the line for decades to come.

Well yeah... Active control is costly and takes to much effort

On the other hand. The league exists, supposedly, to prevent catastrophic magical warfare from tearing apart the planet.

With this in mind, Noxus and Demacia promise to keep the war mostly conventional and avoid said catastrophic magic.

League responds by using catastrophic magic that leaves an area of land uninhabitable for years.

If there's any terrorist organization here, it's this cabal of wizards calling themselves the League.

Y'know, with the dictating all global political conflicted be mediated through them, and threatening anyone who defies them with magical superweapons that, by their own admission, have the potential to sunder the world in a worst case scenario and apparently even in this best case scenario, devastate an entire region.

Keep in mind we have no idea what this High Councilor's true motives really are.

So.... Call me confused, but doesn't this cause some continuity problems? Last we knew, Swain was certainly in the midst of the fighting, and Jarvan presumed to be in the area as well. Doesn't this mean they should both be disabled until the "slow and intensive process" of extraction is complete? Or were they extracted immediately?

..or were they not there at all, in which case, where were they?

Jarvan (LeBlanc) disappeared after the initial fight, Swain probably left the fighting to someone else because he was called to the League to battle in order to settle a dispute over an ancient teacup.

Or some other inane thing people ask the League to handle.

Magically unstable and devastated are two entirely different things.

Perhaps jumping to large conclusions but....Extra short journal, mentions the possibility for major ecological damage...Shield explodes causing magma chamber? Wasn't this whole thing going on over an extensive mining community or something? Skarner is somewhat fire related, and with dota2 being unveiled in just under 3 weeks perhaps riot will be making their move and deploying their counter play.
