Avast decteding Xiff.dat a a virus
What is wrong? did riot release a virus?

I am using Avast and I have not received this.
However, some other people are receiving the same issue: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=109499.0

What should I do?
Should I reinstall?
This is scaring me

The solution to me
Firstly I added Riot Games' folder to avast!'s exceptions of files scanning Module.

Then I followed the steps of "Post Patch Patcher Problems [4P]" <http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/....php?t=1538750> and what helped me to stop having errors with that was the step 4 ("If that did not work, close your launcher and Delete lol_air_client and lol_launcher from (default path) C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects").

Notice that I didn't do the step 3, 'cause it would take too long. Just tried 4 before it and worked. At least until now, it's updating normally. I deleted the folders told there and reopened the launcher. Then I either removed Riot Games' folder from avast!'s Module's exceptions and the detection didn't occur anymore. Looks like it was a old version of the file which was some kind of "Exploit" possibility.

Now the updating is in process and no error happened, just take a try, maybe it can work to you too.

EDIT: DO NOT remove the Riot Games' folder from avast!'s file scanning Module's exceptions, or it would make you wait until almost the finishing of the update to give another detection. Just send the file as a False Positive to avast! team.

Any update on this yet? I had the same issue with avast today and ran the steps, but still have Riot Games folder in exceptions. Was wondering if it was truly a false positive and if it was safe to remove the folder.

Ran the launcher and got a fatal error after all the steps were done.

Same problem here. I tried the forum post that Arthur Gibraltar used, but Avast has not been fun. The folder has been added to exclusions, and it still picks up exploitable files. I've just uninstalled, and while re-installing from a freshly downloaded installer, Avast has picked up another file (already reported it as false positive). I cannot even install LoL now. I'm about to try installing with Avast disabled to see what happens.

DOnt know what avast did, but I would buy tons more RP if I could play lol.

Fragment of Mind 11-14-2012 06:35 PM

Hahaha. Just finished installing. Again, I turned Avast off to install, no problems yet. It's just started patching.

Duninn 11-14-2012 06:45 PM

I cant update so I guess I should turn the shields off
