Creative Design AMA - Syndra, the Dark Sovereign
Morning, Lore Forums! (Or afternoon, evening or night.)

It's time for the Syndra AMA! If you have questions about her story or character, fire away.

Here's her bio, y'all:

Born with immense magical potential, Syndra loves nothing more than exercising the incredible power at her command. With each passing day, her mastery of magical force grows more potent and devastating. Refusing any notion of balance or restraint, Syndra wants only to retain control of her power, even if it means annihilating the authorities that seek to stop her.

Throughout her youth in Ionia, Syndra's reckless use of magic terrified the elders of her village. They took her to a remote temple, leaving her in the care of an old mage. To Syndra's delight, the mage explained that the temple was a school - a place where she could develop her talents under his guidance. Though she learned much during her time there, Syndra no longer felt her power growing as it had in her youth. Her frustration grew, and she finally confronted her mentor, demanding an explanation. He revealed that he had dampened Syndra's magic, hoping to help her learn control and restraint. Accusing him of betrayal, she advanced on the mage, commanding him to lift the spell that was holding her back. He backed away, telling her that if she couldn't control herself, he would be forced to nullify Syndra's magic completely. Furious, she summoned her power and dashed the old man against the walls. With her mentor dead, Syndra felt the rush of her unbounded potential for the first time in years. Though she had won her freedom, she refused to return to the society that had tried to steal her gift. Instead, Syndra decided to claim her former prison as a stronghold. Pushing the boundaries of her magic, she tore the structure from its foundations and raised it into the sky. Free to delve further into her art, Syndra now aims to grow powerful enough to destroy the weak, foolish leaders of Ionia - and anyone else who would dare to shackle her greatness.

"Power belongs to those who can wield it." - Syndra

First post? Excellent!

First question, what does Syndra think of other beings with amazing magical potential or prowess, such as Annie, Brand and Xerath? Would she see them as threats, allies, enemies, rivals, or cockroaches?

Second, what are the origins of Syndra's power? As in, does she have some elemental affinity such as with gravity, or is it moreso telekinesis?

Finally, is there any chance the old man could make a return, or is he stone cold dead?

If I recall correctly, Jax is also one of the most powerful champions. Do you think someone like him could take her under his wing and actually have the power to contain/teach her how to control her power instead of blindly use it?

Also, she reminds me of Ichigo Kurosaki, all that power welled up inside of her, but just like in Bleach, he kinda just let all that power go before learning to harness it. If she would stop to let it build up, who knows how powerful she could be?

Is Syndra like an anomaly or is she like from a line of mages?

Also whats her motivation to join the league?

who likes balls more, syndra or orianna?

1) What is Syndra doing as a champion in the League of Legends? It seems completely antithetical to her character for her to submit to the control of a summoner.

2) It would be nice if her relationship with the leaders of Ionia was explained further. They aren't involved in the events of her bio at all, but suddenly at the very end, they're weak, foolish, and she wants to destroy them? Why? The elders of her village were the ones who sent her to the monastary, and the mage there is the one who limited her. The leaders of Ionia don't factor into that at all. Did they try to stop her after she killed the old mage and floated away in her sky fortress? Or is she just so petty and petulant that she holds all of Ionia responsible for how a few people treated her?

At last!

What does Syndra think of Yordles?
What does Karma think of Syndra?
Do her and Veigar get along well as people who embrace dark power?
Has the Kinkou Order been sent out to terminate Syndra yet? If not, why?
Where was Syndra during the Ionian War?
Does she seek to crush nations other than Ionia?

What is her extent of interaction with Xerath? What does he think of her supposed "limitless potential"

What does she think of him?

1) Why didn't you want to just make her a void champ? Her dark spheres look like they come straight out of the void. Why doesn't her lore tell us what the heck those things are? The whole champion revolves around dark spheres but they are completely unexplained...

2) Syndra's lore places her in almost a "Dark Queen" sort of archetype. She is a power-hungry sorceress that lives in a floating castle and wants to destroy the kingdom of Ionia (It all sounds very Grimm Brothers or Lloyd Alexander-esque). So, does she have any minions to speak of? Some sort of army or something? How exactly does she plan on taking down the Ionians?

Why is Syndra's AMA only being made now? ...Well, at least we have it now.

On-topic: If Syndra hates having her power restrained or being under the control of another, why would she join the League?

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 04:40 AM.
