So ****, well I got bored and since the forums are really lacking guides on Twitch, with the only real more or less, yeah less up to date ones, is only that nerds - Rydog’s one.
Its a wall of Text, but hell , if you enjoy reading and your playing a Twitch, either you be a newbie Twitch or veteran Twitch, i'm sure you'll find some filling information in here regardless of who you are.
Lately I’ve seen a lot of newbies pilling up and creating ******ed threads with names like Twitch items please, runes, builds , ect. Not to mention that some lowlifes still read the old guides and blindly claim Malady to be the core item for a Twitch, yes yes you losers, I’m talking to you, the ones that go 1/10/3 and blame everyone around.
So well homies, your in luck – that ladie distress ends here and now and I’ll bump you up and let you know how real Twitches pimp their rides and drive trough the sidewalks while getting massive killsprees.
Introduction I guess:
Alright now, first off get that finger out of your nose, you might cause some brain damage and you still need that so listen up, I’m only going to repeat this ONCE:
Twitch IS NOT GODLY OR OP ANYMORE. Thus why the thread name, with the new champions like Xin and **** and others getting buffed constantly and reworked, Twitch is still the same old nerfed Twitch that got hit heavily back then more than half a year ago which removed his GOD status, but lets be honest – half a year ago there weren’t all that many decent players around, so Twitch dominated noobies a lot mainly.
But still, like I said, after that nerf, Twitch is still stagnant where he is while others get reworked and polished while Twitch is always pretty much overlooked and more than that, while still, he gets hit passively by nerfs nobody realises like - the Last Whisper nerf , the Penetration nerf, the critical rate removal ,ect, no love fo the smelly rat , huh, well hey I bet he doesn’t smell any worse than your grandma there riot!
If actually compared to any other champion, hes actually pretty UP nowadays and can’t 1v1 most targets mid game unless decently fed and equiped. Also with new champions coming out like Xin, Olaf, Udyr , Pantheon (in less regards now), Garen (Tank garen, good luck with that) and whatnot, he seems rather incompetent in general and is dealt easily with by the champions listed by the least of the list.
And nowadays UNLIKE the previous days where only skanky champions like Sivir, Ash and Mundo were running all over the place, nowadays chunky ****s like olaf , garen and pantheon took their places, which jokes are bad with.
You aren’t able to pop out behind people nowadays and land a double kill while their at full health, you aren’t able to pop out behind the enemy team and make a quadra/penta kill cause their all squishy and ret@rded anymore.
And you obviously will get your balls handed back over to you if your too cocky and charge in first, or if theres a Xin in there, if you charge in second also.
Okay, now that we’ve gone trough the part that explains why you don’t wanna play Twitch, lets head over to the part where I’ll tell you about WHY you would want to play Twitch.
The Twitch unlike his bold sisterhood Evelyne, is a stealth character that has range! So generally oracles are more or less irrelevant to you since you can keep your range and spray and pray out of trouble, altho wards always posses a problem. A Twitch is also a great mid lane champion and let alone that, he is quite strong against most Mids that go against you, with exceptions like experienced Katarinas, Kennens and Ezraels, rest should be a breeze if you know what your doing, so scoring a first blood is not a phantasy.
Also to boot, Twitch is one of THE BEST gankers in the game, with a massive slow, fast attack speed and a poison bomb that deals heavy early game damage for easy kills.
Thus being able to let him feed himself and dominate mid-late game to the enemies expensses. If you’ve had a great start game, you can pretty much call it a done game. (Ofcourse if your team isn’t feeding excessively or being idiots in team fights).
Passive: Twitch's attacks infect the target with Deadly Venom, which deals 2/4/6/8 damage each second, stacks up to 6 times, and lasts up to 8 seconds.
After 1.25 seconds, Twitch becomes stealthed for 20/30/40/50/60 seconds. If Twitch attacks a unit while Stealthed, he gains 30/45/60/80/100% attack speed for up to 10 seconds, depending on how long he was stealthed before attacking.
Infects all nearby champions with Debilitating Poison, slowing their movement speed.
Slows nearby enemy champions' move speed by 30%, plus 6% per Deadly Venom they have, 2.5/3.25/4/4.75/5.25 second duration.
All nearby enemies secrete Twitch's toxic venoms from their bodies, dealing damage for each stack.
Deals 30/60/90/120/150 (+1) magic damage to each nearby poisoned enemy, plus 20/30/40/50/60 additional damage per stack of Deadly Venom applied to them.
Twitch closes his eyes and fires his crossbow as fast as he can, spraying piercing arrows ahead of him.
Twitch gains 40/60/80% attack speed and his attacks become long range line missiles for 7 seconds, dealing 100% damage and poisoning all enemies hit.
Well you maggots that’s easy, there are only two ways to build your Twitch spell wise.
Its either Q/E or Q/W +R all the way, then max out whats left.
I’d recommend maxing out Q/W myself since, well…I’ll be honest – explunge BLOWS!! And people thinking otherwise are mentally handicapped.
Why does explunge blow compared to debilate? I’ll tell you why, because its damage is pathetic! I hope you read the part about it being magic damage, thus the enemy reduces 25% of its damage by default! And oh lucky them – some smart Twitches if not most let them get away at little to no health cause they popped it earlier whilst thinking it will do full damage thats writen in the description , /facepalm
The only reason in getting explunge over debilate is for solo mid lanning, its a lot easier harassing and getting that one-two kills with Explunge contrary to debilate.
Whilst with debilate its a lot easier ganking top/bot and getting those extra kills – your pick, not to mention that it benefits your whole team. Also mathematically wise, its better having debilate than explunge, since you get more hits in while their slowed – it covers for the damage you could of done with Explunge… don’t believe me? Well screw you!
So generally this guides skill build will be!!:
And you can also get 1 point into explunge early also so you can finish off enemies when multiple team mates are killing one, sure its selfish but meh.
That’s it about spells, but like I said, the difference is the way your going to benefit from them, you can just use whatever you like, the traditional Q/E build also works but not as effecient for team play.
I suggest on a final note that you try both and see what i'm talking about, a 5 second slow or a 200~350 damage burst that cancels your poison stacks.
Okay, a lot of people ask what runes are the best for a Twitch, well these are:
Marks: ArPen or Critical chance
Seals: critical chance
Glyphs: flat cooldown, MR or mana regeneration/per lv
Quints: Flat health, ONLY.
These are generall the best runes for Twitches nowadays, if you still haven’t been told – TWITCH IS CRIT RELIANT and the crit rate nerf hit him in the face with a fresh fish like a sailor challenging another sailor to a duel.
Theres been a lot of debate whenether crit or ArPen is better, but I’ll tell you this – it doesn’t really matter, you need atleast 5% crit rate from runes and you can dump everything else into Pen.
As for the matter of Glyphs, well any are good, either that MR that won’t really save your **** much when you get concentrated, or that mana regen that doesn’t mean much since the only thing you’ll be using outside of ganks and team fights is Ambush for farming, or that cooldown thats gonna let you get into stealth half a second earlier.
Quints are Flat healths, that’s a must, your so squishy that if any champion is gonna ignite fart your way, he is gonna get a double kill.
It gives you great lanning staying power at mid when you have 100 more health and more survivability to extend that mano e mano and get that first blood.
I advise not listening to people claiming that dodge or armor runes are gonna save your day from being butt tinggled. Those things are useless since you’ll die with or without them in a matter of… oh look , the gray screen looks pretty!!
That’s it for runes, get these and your ride is halfway pimped!
Materies , huh
Well a lot of Twitch roll different, some even roll 21/x/x , for hell if know whats going trough their worm infested apple.
The ideal set up for a Twitch is generally:
Because you don’t need the **** in the offense tree that’s bellow 15, or even bellow 11 if you must.
A variation like 11/4/15 or 11/0/19 also works.
But anyways, the main masteries as a Twitch that you should note ARE!:
Deadliness – 3 points , obviously the critical talent is one of the most important ones for you.
Cripple/Savy – 1 point, either cripple if you like using exhaust or savy for extra explunge damage.
Sorcery – 4 points, reduces cooldowns by 3%, nothing better to get besides it anyways.
Sunder – 3 points, this is your last most important masterie that you were aiming for the in offensive tree.
You can either wrap up your tree here and get into the other ones, or spend 1 point into Offensive mastery and 3 points into Brute Force for a bit of additional damage.
If you decided to spend 3-4 points into this one then the only things worth your time are :
Resistance and Hardiness.
Each gives either 2Mr or 2AR per point, so 6 extra MR, 2 extra AR, or 6 extra AR and 2 extra MR, your choice.
But given that MR doesn’t increase with level like AR, then that would be the most logical choice.
Well hey, this baby might be support but it holds one of the most yummy talents in the game.
God’s Hands – 3 points, you get these as a basic, -10% to reviving time is always a welcome.
Ghost/Perservance – one point here, either to improve ghost if you like using it, or for a bit of extra regeneration.
Awareness – 4 points, every champion should get this one in my oppinion, build regardless, it lets you get ahead in experience and levels over your enemies, what could be better. 5% increased EXP gain.
Utility Master – 2 points, increases the duration of your golem/lizard buffs by 30%, a great talent if I may say so myself, lets you keep those valuable buffs as long as possible. OR
Meditation – 1 point or 3 points and skip Utility Master, gives you that 0.33 increased mana regeneration per point so at 3 points its +1 mana regeneration, helps a bit start game but you’ll benefit from it much less than from 30% longer buffs.
Greed – 1 point, pretty much basic but some people don’t get it, well I do and I **** hope you do too, money is good!
Quickness – 3 points, 3% additional moving speed, Just what the doctor prescribed, since Twitch is slow as shinzit, it will add a good amount of 10 extra movement speed points in the actual game, which do help a lot if I say so myself.
You should be pretty much done with the support tree by now, but if you’ve chosen to get the 11/0/19 build, then the rest of your points could go into:
Blink of an Eye – 1 point to enchance flash cooldown.
Intelligence – 3 points, to further maximize your cooldowns, with this you’ve pretty much topped your cooldowns at 12% just from masteries, and with the golem buff and some runes in a match, you can cap out your cooldowns.
That’s it for our dilly dalling about in the masterie section, well hell you can roll your own mastery build but mine beats the **** out of yours.
I see a lot of idiots getting either things like clayvorance or whatever on a Twitch /facepalm
Your only friends are ONLY 4 spells:
Ignite . Exhaust, Ghost and Flash, that’s it, cleanse too earlier but it became quite useless nowadays and doesn’t save your hide as much anymore. Altho its still a option as to when you get exhausted, other than that? Not really.
Popular combos are Flash+Ignite or Flash+ehxuast, less popular the Exhaust/Ignite combo.
Ghost is somewhere in the middle it’s a nice catch up ability and get away horse if you spot a enemy first.
Exhaust is generally your good friend nowadays since chumps like Xin appeared, it’ll save your hide if you exhaust him after he charges at you, or any particulat melee champion.
Ignite is a good finisher early game but gets kinda useless mid-late game since your shots do a ****load of more damage than ignite could ever dream of.
And flash is flash, always a great escape move to give you those 1.5 valuable seconds of handsfree so you can get into ambush and laugh in your enemies faces, while walking away half dead with a double kill under your wiskers.
That’s it for spells, well you know you could.. *yawn*, nevermind.
The item builds:
Contraty to popular believes, MALADY SUCKS! Your bad and you should feel bad if your getting it!!
Stacking attack speed is also a pretty bad idea, no point in having 2.5 AS if your dealing 50 damage per shot.
Twitch is like one of the few champions that does not need attack speed items at all, only items he needs are AD items and crit rate, nothing else.
Attack speed should be aquired in small amounts and towards mid-end game.
The real items a Twitch should concentrate on are only Crit rate and Additional Damage, that’s it.
If you wan to be a good builded Twitch, then that’s the only items you need for it.
The currently best known build is know for Twitches to be:
Doran’s Shield + HP Pot
X2 Avarice Blades
Boots (Usually mobility, or berserkers early but replaced by mobility later)
And Last Whisper…which was considered the best item for DPS but currently after its nerf and adjustments to the AR pen order system, Black Cleaver is much supperior to last whisper DPS wise. But the 40% constant AS is nice so some people could still prefer it old style, since on the other hand your AS is kinda slow but your dealing serious damage and reducing more AR than with LW.
After that its kinda freelancer, you can get whatever floats your boat, either a Frozen Mallet if your getting your boots focused too much too often and die fast no matter where your positioned, or a blood thirst to finish off the job faster and even get that bonus life steal bit.
Generally the last items are unimportant, the items you buy in the first 20 minutes of the game ARE!
Contrary to popular believes also, the Ghostblade is TRASH, dot
Why? One simple reason, because the active ability doesn’t sync well with Twitch, and that’s the only reason your bothering with it, or I wouldn’t bother fo**** with 30AD and 20 Pen for a price of 2000G unless I’m **** loaded with Cash endgame and with a avarice on my hands that’s got nothing better to do. And especially that if you bought LW, Ghostblades AR reduction doesn’t stack well with it.
The other reason why NOT TO GET Ghostblade is because you want your IE as fast as possible and it delays it by a whole 2000gold, but afterwards getting them is a waste since they aren’t as effective as they would have been pre IE.
And that’s it for item builds altho there are still two things to mention:
1. Always buy Green elixers past the point where you have Infinity Edge and buy Red Elixers towards endgame when you don’t have anywhere else to waste cash.
2. Sword of Occult is a great item if the enemy team has 2 or more squishies from which you can farm stacks on, a 10+ stacked Occult is a awesome boost to your damage potential for free and if you hit 20 stacks and have a IE on your hands, then your rolling out big crits baby. When to buy the Occult in game time? Well figure that out yourselves.
The popular question often arises: WHY AVARICE, OMG N00b TWITCH, GO D!E!?!!
Well the reason for avarices is that it gives you greater farming ability and the ability to leave your lane and not gimp yourself too much for losing out of creep kills, also, ALSO it doesn’t make you defenseless , it gives you 12/24% critical rate which boosted up with runes can get up to 40% easy and that makes you kind of a thread early game where you can land several crits in a row and finish off someone fast and unexpectedly.
I’ve had a lot of cases where x2 avarice blades outperformed x1 recurve + x1 pick.
And when you get your IE while owning Avarice blades, the crits really start rolling in, and no ordinary crits at that but BIG MOTHER ****ING BABY EATER CRITS at that.
Now then that we’ve settled about with the item section, lets get a bit into general advices for Twitches.
(Generally copy-paste from my other forum posts but meh XP)
Take mid if possible, buy flat health quints, help alot with your early game and always the dorans shield.
Harass at will, don't over extend or suicide against champions that have a upper hand on you.
Keep flash always ready to get out of a gank.
Don't go behind enemies even if you have team mates but there are several enemies.
Always stick with one or two team mates when you engage.
Pick off unaware ashes that overextended their minion farm in mid-late game.
Always use stealth when on your lane to give your enemies a high awareness and play mind games so they don't know if you left to gank another lane and call in a mia late thus.
Use stealth to farm between creep waves, the bonus attack speed is awesome for last hitting or hitting at all.
You stay behind in team fights and spray and pray from maximum range and supress the enemy team endgame, while also slowing them with debilating to help your team chase them down.
You should never initiate first and never get close enough to their tanks so they can CC you.
Early game, pick off squishies like Ash, Sivir, ect
You shouldn't ever go for the tank, leave that to someone else, and you should position yourself well enough when engaging so your closer to your allies and to your turrets and instant escape with flash if you want to engage a 2v2.
If its a 2v1 or 1v1 you should position yourself behind them to land as many shots as you can but in 1v1 you should also know your enemy well since some champions with decent gear can rip you apart.
Attack speed should be aquired in small amounts and towards mid-end game.
Positioning is generally hard and tedious, your luck is applied, your awareness, ect
And awareness is quite hard to aquire in a 5v5 player mash, so you should just play games with Twitch, play alot and get used to playing him, after countless fails you'll learn where to position yourself better.
But the most important advice of all is still : don't be a ret@rd, learn to play and don’t feed.
More indepth advice regarding Twitch and points of view of his play style, cons and pros.
1.I'll tell you why building twitch attack speed wise is bad for your.
Its because he is weak mid-to endgame untill he gets a infinity.
The attack speed will benefit a bit against squishy champions as Ash and help you take them out a bit faster than going pure AD because of your explunge but you sacrifice your midgame for that because with that kind of attack speed and low AD, you will not do any significant damage to semi chunky enemies and forget engaging 1v1 combat or opponents with more than halfh health unless you want to see your shop.
Whilst while going crit/AD type without attack speed, your early game is compensated by having semi-decent critical rate and your midgame is times better than having attack speed because by the time you should already have your infinity, plus a good 50-60% critical rate, you are going to tear trough enemies in their mid game since they do not have enough health and armor to counter your massive damage, also your attack speed stacked with stealth and spray will be at around 1.7~2.0 thus perfectly high for infinity edge at that stage.
Twitch does not have life steal items and that is true, i do not get lifesteal myself until mid game and build it into a bloodthirst towards endgame.
But thats mainly because there isn't a huge variety of good life drain gear, your only best choice would be one vampiric scepter until you have some money to build it into a thirst, wasting it on malady or starks is dissadvantageous since it delays your performance with crits and infinity.
Your main role is to pop out with spray and pray and take out as much as you can, you will not stand there and keep shooting at enemies that will be concentrating fire at you because even with life-steal you will not outheal their damage, you are too squishy my friend.
And stark is generally a bad idea for stealth characters, the debuff icon that appears on enemies will easily warn them that twitch is lurking around.
People making a Malady early game make a big mistake, yes it helps somewhat to farming a lane a bit early and gives you attack speed but its effects deteriorate majorly towards mid game and its practically useless endgame, a stark would do alot better for you, especially since now its been buffed a bit that buffs from several starks now stack.
Why and why and why item build and why this and that against Ash:
I rush infinity earlier than i complete my boots in most cases, and boots first if the game isn't going as well as planned, at that point i just have BF.Pick and boots complete.
The general idea is to have your infinity ready by minute 20~25, which is quite possible, while having two avarice blades in your inventory to severely boost your ciritical rate (yet again, there is a poor variety of good critical rate gear)
I pick avarices for easier farming, they are relative cheap, help you kill off minions alot faster since you are constantly doing 150 damage criticals while lanning and you can get your first by minute 3-4 and your second by minute 6-8 while also having a Dorans shield in your inventory for survivability, i always suggest having a Dorans shield over blade, the 4% lifesteal is worse than the 8 regen, also if you've got flat HP quints, that will give you a good upperhand against other squishies that you hold your mid against, for example ash, generally most Ash'es go with either a vampiric scepter or ragegrowth, while you have 210 health higher than them at base level, you can easily overpower them at level 1 , if you have explunge at that then its even faster, but rarely that happens since people do not tend to risk their early game and go in for a all out battle, but if they do, you should pick exhaust and flash or ignite as your summoner spells, exhaust to slow her and not let her do damage and ignite to help you finish her fast off.
I see alot of twitches cry on the forums that Ash overpowers them, that is a no-no you maggots, if your getting overpowered by ash, then you are doing something wrong, she is by default your most **** fat and tasty target that won’t be able to struggle much, if your holding mid against ash, then consider yourself blessed. Much worse alternatives like Katarina , Kennen or Ezrael are always possible.
Different build opinion and killing rate:
I've tried various builds on Twitch and i tried first getting more AS/AD at the same time instead of spending it on Avarices.
The general price of x2 avarices + boots is 1850 gold and i've decided to get the pick and recurve for a bit of a boost in AD/AS which cost me 2050 gold in total, almost the same ammount.
But after that since there was no avarice bonus, the gold farm became horribly gimped, you couldn't lane all the time and getting kills wasn't as effective as you might of tought, those 25 AD and 40% ASPD don't really make much of a difference compared to 2 avarices and the gold boost that enables you to get IE early.
Generally i made LW first then boots and IE but that was by minute 40 around so you could see how much delayed it was only because you first got non farming items and try to relie on kills.
Killing with twitch won't always be successful, actually 50% of the time or even more your target will get away from a gank since people keep flash up just for occasions like that in higher elo and are alot more cautious and conscient of Twitch if he is in a game, also some put down wards on their lanes so you don't gank them unexpectedly.
Relying on getting kills to feed yourself won't always work but farming and gold per time with several avarices never gets you down, even if you did poorly early game, you can still turn it around mid game at minute 25 when you get IE with one-two successful team fights.
So getting pure AS or AD on Twitch start off without farming items will gimp you more-so than you can imagine.
Why is Vamp, Malady scepter a bad starting item and berserk greaves bad boots for Twitch:
Buying the scepter makes you one big ass target for harassement, why? Because you have to hit minions to recover health and if they keep you away from your minions with successful harassment – your useless.
When you'll get to higher Elo, champions like Kennen, katarina, heimer , ect are going to eat you and you won't even be able to fight back, hell, even a good ash or good sivir will heed trouble for you, more sivir than ash tho but getting a vamp scepter will only make you lose out even more. Its not a problem of skill, as good as you might be as a Twitch, you have your limits cause of your range and slow pace, people that can exploit them - will make you suffer.
Berserk greaves are generally the worst choice possible for mid-late game, for the tradeoff of 0.15 attack speed, you give up on mobility boots that would give you 3 extra movement speed out of combat, which enables you to get there and position yourself as much as you please and they are also awesome at getting away when you leave combat and have pursuers.
ingame whatever happens, and you have to be able to get over half the map to assist in a gank that happened to your allies, or get there fast after you've just blue pill'ed, berseker boots won't provide that and i guarantee that you WILL lose out on more potential than if you have mobilities, you don't need extra attack speed to land 6 hits FAST to explunge if your positioned well - and thats very possible with mobilities unlike the greaves.
And malady is bad, why is it bad? Because its reduced by magic resistance , thats one.
And the only thing it provides is extra attack speed and some drain, whilst the attack speed is not needed at all.
It also has to add up on hits to be useful, but YOU ARE NOT going to start dashing out +35 damage hits on your first shot if you have a malady, contrary to popular beliefs.
You'll first do 4 extra damage, then 4 more extra damage with your next hit, then 4 more, ect. But your missing the point that you can sometimes land only a few hits cause they flashed or ghosted or ran into the bushes, or you weren't positioned aswell, so its totally useless most of the time.
This section was generally piece gathered from other posts on the forums by me, so whatever, and that’s it for this section until my Goddess of Enspiration decides to give me more ideas.
Generally that’s it for the guide for now, but I’ll actually take the time and describe scenarios for Twitch against all the 50 champions of the league and imply them into this guide, with a general or more indepth opinion of how to deal with this or that champion.
how's exec calling?
I have to say you completely underestimate Expunge during the early/mid game. An expunge can be worth anywhere from 2-7 auto attacks worth of damage during this time. Consider also that the expunge range is noticeably larger than your auto attack's and can't be flashed out of. Not only that, but it gives you twice as much AoE damaging power after you finish your Spray and Pray.
You should consider a more traditional build like:
I've already considered if you haven't noticed and said about both builds but debilate over shines explunge by a mile and will get you and your team more kills than explunge will. Plus its highly reduced by MR and you will land more hits on a target while its under debilate that covers for the lost explunge damage, not to mention that you don't delete the stacks off the target and it still receives heavy poison damage.
You can also just get 1 point into explunge, just to get those last hits easier when multiple team mates are attacking the same target, since you need that kill more than them and feed yourself, yeah its selfish but its for a good deed, and i should add that to the guide.
and lastly, you forget about the brute firepower it offers. if an enemy champ decides to fight you instead of run or maybe gets healed by their soraka from across the map, etc. that extra damage will do you a lot more good than the extra slow.
and stop saying it's "highly" reduced by magic damage. it's not. it's reduced a normal amount like anything else.
