Nasus discussion.
Thinking of maining Nasus for ranked, have been playing normal games with him so far. What is his role and place in a team? So far my games have been alright being forced to tank every game, and it's worked out so far while making a target for my team with W. Is he supposed to be a hybrid, or mained as a tank of sorts?
Build goes as Ninja Tabi, Chalice, That shield that gives +Armor and MR in an AoE, Warmogs, Sheen, and an Impaler. After that I usually sell Chalice and get FoN, then upgrade to Trinity, or get Trinity before the impaler.

TL;DR is Nasus viable in ranked, what is his true role, post builds.

TL;DR Nasus is a sack of garbage and it's time to take out the trash.

nasus requires a lot of farm, he's a good top solo, but you really really need to farm with him.

Renekton Bot 04-27-2011 07:56 PM

Yeah, he needs to farm up a ****ing life that's for sure.

Nasus is essentially tanky dps but imo he functions as a decent tank in low elo just because people get scared and automatically shoot at the giant dog. If you don't have a better tank or a good initiator it will probably be your job to rambo in and wither the carry before laying down pain with q.

As to builds I usually start doran's shield which means I almost never have to leave the lane. First trip back I try to grab boots and sheen(always get sheen early as it's a massive boost to q damage and makes farming it easy). After that I usually turn the boots into merc treads which imo all tanks should have and then usually grab an aegis for the overall survivability and team buff. After that really just build according to the enemy team comp although I do have a preference for sunfire since it works well with his ult.

I realize that, which is why I go mid every single game and farm for a good 20 minutes. I get around +200 Q damage by the time I start to team fight. Too late?
Also, don't really care if he's "garbage", I genuinely like him and want to know what my role is supposed to be. I keep going tank.

LizzardMan 04-27-2011 07:57 PM

If it's a long game, he simply owns late, especially if he can farm early.

PainOfInsanity 04-27-2011 07:59 PM

Uh ya you do not want to go mid as Nasus.

Either top solo lane as Nasus or lane bot with a support champion.

The reason Nasus is not regarded as a top tanky dps is due to the fact that other tanky dps over shadows him with their gap closer abilities and immune to cc.

pretty much just follow this

According to today's metagame and current heroes if a hero doesn't have at least three of these they are no good

Effective tank checklist:
Initiation ability
Aoe CC
Ability that helps you reduce damage taken

Effective tanky dps checklist:
Blink/jump/dash (gap closer)
Stun/knockup/something else that completely shuts down a hero
Self heal
Damage steroid

Nasus has one of the tank abilities, though Wither is really pushing it as an initiation ability.
Nasus has two of the tanky dps abilities.
Nasus is outclassed in both of his roles.
