Hang on, I got this.

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived by the ocean. The girl loved the ocean very much, and from the first day she saw its waves shimmering beneath the sun she wondered what lay beneath them. A better life, she imagined, a whole new world where the fish and the dolphins and the whales all lived happily side by side, where even the clams were at least a little upbeat. Time did nothing to temper these fanciful childhood dreams, and when she was finally old enough to swim out past the surf she resolved to see it for herself.

She nearly drowned.

Fortunately for the girl, she washed up in a cave by the seaside. Unfortunately for the girl, this cave was home to a sea witch feared and reviled by the people of the girl's town. But truth be told this witch wasn't a bad person, not truly. That's a different story, however. The witch nursed the girl back to health, and once the girl was strong enough to speak she told the witch her plans and what had happened. The witch laughed, remembering well the silly dreams that curse the young, but she simply couldn't bring herself to shatter the would-be mermaid's fancies.

And so she began to work a spell. Bringing to bear the most formidable of her witchy magics she infused the girl with the essence of the sea. The girl's parents wouldn't like it, but so what? Everyone already thought the witch was evil, so no big deal. The girl watched as her skin paled and peeled away to reveal delicate, glittering scales beneath. She felt gills open up on either side of her neck, and at last her legs came together and sprouted a fin. Oh, what majesty! She was half a fish now! Her dreams were coming true! She turned to the witch and tried to thank her, but the words would not come. Gills, it seemed, were made for breathing water and not air.

She nearly suffocated.

Fortunately the witch was far stronger than she looked. She carried the girl to the mouth of the cave and tossed her into the sea. The wonderful, icy water invigorated the girl and before she knew it she was swimming faster than any bird had ever flown! She returned to the cave to thank the witch, but the witch had gone. She called for her, and called again, but there was no answer. She swam to the shore but found that she could not walk upon the land anymore. It was with a sudden, chilling pang of horror that she realized she might never see her home again.

She threw herself at the beach in a fury, clawing at the sand and pulling her way towards the reeds and the grass and the road and the village, but before she was even ten feet from the water she realized she still could not breathe above the waves. She choked and gasped and tried to hop back, but her strength was failing her. It was too late. She would die here, she realized, to bake in the sun and terrify the first unfortunate person to stumble upon her remains. In her last, dizzy moment she felt something cold wrap itself around her fin.

A sudden blast of icy cold woke her. She was in the water again! But... How? She looked around for her rescuer, but there was no one... Until she felt something knock on the top of her head. She looked up to find the oddest creature she'd ever seen floating just a foot above her: a small, blue finned thing with enormous eyes and a head full of tentacles that aspired to be hair. The creature grinned and taunted her for what had just happened, and the girl told him to shut his face, but she found it hard to stay upset at the person who saved her life. Besides, he said to her, the land was for losers; she'd like it better down where it was wetter. Then he introduced himself, but when the girl tried to reply she found that she'd somehow forgotten her own name. The creature laughed as she stumbled for an answer and dubbed her "Name-y." She took some liberties with that.

Then he confessed how he'd managed to find her before she had died upon the shore. As it would happen, he'd been watching her for some time now, ever since the girl was a much smaller girl. Every day, at about the same time, he would see her sitting on the shore and staring out across the ocean. From the first time he saw her he'd desperately wanted to meet her, but he could never work up the nerve. He was certain he was going to do it this time, but for the first time, she wasn't there. He started looking for her further down the beach when he saw her writhing upon the shore. He hadn't recognized her at first, given the fact that she had fins and all, but when he got her back in the water he knew her immediately.

She rewarded the finned thing with a kiss on the forehead that made him blush a deep green. Then she explained her own problem, namely the one about never going back home again. But the creature, always upbeat, told her that she had something better now and gestured behind him to the massive expanse of the ocean, adding that, perhaps, if she wouldn't mind or anything, he could show her his home, too.

She didn't mind at all.

A much better love story than Twilight there, Renekton Bot.

Cerubois 11-22-2012 05:15 PM

Actually quite good...!

The 'once upon a time' made me think it was going to be ridiculous, but this was actually kind of... heartwarming... D'awwww...

Pacman RAGE 11-22-2012 10:06 PM

I hope this doesn't develop into a Fizz X Nami saga.

Renekton Bot 11-22-2012 10:58 PM

It's not as exciting as you might think. She lays some eggs in a riverbed and Fizz comes along later to fertilize them.

Also, thanks guys <3

What is this "lore" you speak of? We here at Riot Games know of no "lore".

Kotolok 11-24-2012 03:27 AM

LOL wait this is actually REALLY AWESOME.

Also surprised Renekton didn't hit on her. Scales and whatnot

Renekton Bot 11-24-2012 05:22 PM

Well she doesn't have.... That is to say, her bottom half...

Well alright, just wait for her judgment.
