This isn't that difficult guys: When to try to cap their mid

1. Is your bot secure? If yes, move to step 2
2. Is your mid secure? If yes, move to step 3
3. Do you control top? If yes, move to step 4
4. Is your bot holding? If yes, move to step 5
5. Are you ahead in points? If yes, move to step 6
6. Can you account for at least 4 enemy team members not at their mid while you control at least three points? If yes, move to step 7
7. Try to cap their mid

Here's what you don't do:

1. Did we lose bot? Better go for their mid
2. Are they taking our mid? Better go for their mid
3. Are we losing top control? Better go for their mid
4. Are they winning the bot lane fight? Better go for their mid
5. Are we significantly behind in points? Better go for their mid
6. Did we barely secure three points? Better go for their mid

The enemy mid turret is the turret you are least likely to capture. It should be your last consideration for trying to win the match and is most often a superfluous capture when you are able to get it. The enemy mid turret is not the solution to reversing a losing game. If you attempt to capture the enemy mid while you're behind in points or losing fights, you will only fall further behind the enemy team.

What if they're turtling top? One starts capping mid as a decoy while three teammates set up in jungle for a gank?

Or, is it always better to go for bottom?

Ahlen 11-16-2012 09:25 AM

If there are 3-4 of them on your mid and 3-4 of you top/near top, make a push onto their mid and try to neutralize it, if they recall out of your mid to defend it, just back to top, while having one recall to retake your mid.

Really good players won't fall for this, but generally most players do.

Applying pressure is always important, if you put people on the defensive they won't be able to extend to try to push onto other things. That doesn't however mean you have to fully commit to any offensive aggression.

Also: It's never a good idea to trade top for bottom, if the enemy team is any good and they see you do a commited gank on bottom, they'll give you the bot point and take top. Bot is far far easier to regain than top is, so the trade is more than fair for them.

Too many holes in your post, you should've just said don't attack their mid unless you're going to 5 cap dude.

The most common time to mess with their bot or mid is when you're outnumbered and they're too fortified top. The assumption is you're not going to die in this process perpetuating the outnumbering of your team for another cycle.

How would trying to capture an opponent's mid while you are behind set you back further? You coordinate with your team. Sending one person to cap their mid forces them to respond, putting the ability to control the flow of the game back into your team's hands. When you don't have a 3cap, you need to make plays because the other team is more than content to just wait while you bleed.

Because it is the hardest point to pressure. The enemy has every advantage to defend it and you have every disadvantage when trying to take it. They can get to the mid point fastest from their spawn points. Even if win an initial fight for their mid, you will more than likely lose the follow up fight because they can bombard their mid much more effectively than you can.

If you try to cap their mid while you're behind on points, they can easily defend it with less people than you can send to cap it, which means you will leave top or bot or even your own mid open to an attack and a cap. Trying to take their mid while you're not at an advantage is like Napoleon trying to invade Russia in the winter, you won't be successful.

If they are too fortified up top then you go for bot. Going for their mid while they're strong up top just means they'll be strong at their mid a few seconds. Attacking their mid while you can't beat them up top just means you'll at their mid as well.

However, attacking their bot while their strong up top will cause them to travel much further to defend their point.

I love people that try to teach others the right way to play, revealing in the process they are the ones that need to learn.

What? Half of this is wrong.
1 is especially what you should do if they send 3 bot and it's too late to prevent your bot from being capped but not too late to take their mid with your 4v2 advantage there.

Wrong post is wrong.
