Sion, The Undead Champion
The history of war between Demacia and Noxus extends as far back as the founding of the respective cities in Valoran. A recent product of this conflict was the murderous Noxian warrior, Sion. Used by the Noxians as a human battering ram, Sion would be sent thundering ahead of Noxian troops. He would mercilessly slaughter foes with his large double-handed axe, Chopper. His complete disregard for caution would ultimately cost him his life, as he was captured and summarily executed by Demacian forces. The Demacians thought that the beheading of Sion would be the end of his bloodthirsty ways. Death, however, was merely the beginning. The famed Noxian assassin, Katarina, recovered Sion's remains and Noxian necromancers reanimated the behemoth to serve Noxus once again.
Sion emerged from the reanimation process even more brutal than before. His gaze alone would now stop foes dead in their tracks. His skin thickened considerably, increasing the amount of damage the already brutish beast could withstand. He could focus his rage into attacks that cause near-crippling damage at the expense of his own health. Finally, he could drain the very essence of life out of his foes, replenishing himself and his allies. The one thing, however, that the Noxian necromancers did not anticipate upon reanimation was Sion's change of loyalty; his new powers have given Sion a desire to seek his own glory in undeath as a champion of the Institute of War.

Feel No Pain - Sion has a 20% chance to ignore up to 30/40/50 damage each time he is attacked. The damage reduction is calculated before armor benefits are taken into account.
Cryptic Gaze - Sion's stare terrifies a single enemy, dealing damage and stunning them.
Blasts a single enemy, dealing 70 / 125 / 180 / 240 / 300 (+1 per ability power) magic damage and stunning for 2 seconds.
Death's Caress - Sion surrounds himself with a damage absorbing shield. If the shield is not destroyed in 10 seconds then it will explode, dealing damage to surrounding enemies.
Sion surrounds himself with a shield which absorbs 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 / 320 (+1 per ability power) damage. If the shield is not destroyed in 10 seconds, it will explode, dealing 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 / 320 (+1 per ability power) magic damage to surrounding enemies.
Cast again to manually detonate.

Enrage - While active Sion deals extra physical damage at the cost of health. Additionally, he gains maximum health permanently whenever he kills a unit.
Toggle: Increase Sion's damage by 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65, and he gains 1 / 2 / 2 / 3 / 3 maximum health per kill.
Costs 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 Health
Cannibalism - Sion consumes some of his enemies life force on each attack, leeching health to himself and nearby allies. The smell of flesh also renews Sion's fervor, increasing his attack speed.
Grants Sion 50 / 75 / 100% lifesteal and 50% attack speed for 20 seconds, additionally Sion's attacks heal surrounding allies for 25 / 38 / 50% of damage dealt.
Hello and welcome to my guide. This guide is on how to build Sion to become a all round hero killer. Lets get started. Sion is a very versatile champion that is often underestimated. It's recommended items that the game says to get is tanking items. This however will not let Sion maximize his full potential. In my opinion, Sion should be a nuker.

At lever one you should take Enrage for 2 reasons. If you would like first blood, enrage gives you +25 attack at a measly cost of 6 hp per hit. If you are laning with a hero with a slow such as Ashe or Twitch, you can easily do an extra 100 damage in the beginning. The second reason is for the bonus hp. If you are able to activate Enrage on right when you are about to kill an enemy, you gain 1 perma hp. If you are able to last hit extremely well, you will get about +40 hp before lvl 6. This can later on tremendously increase your hp. At level 2 you get the stun to chase and to save. By level 5 you should start killing/harassing by first activating shield, stun, run up, wait about 1 second, then manually blow up your shield. The reason you max out shield first is because it does more damage than the stun. At level six you take Cannibalism because it greatly improves your pushing ability. It allows you to kill towers faster while healing the tanking minions. You do not take Cannabilism at lvl 16 because this guide is on building a nuker not a pusher.

The whole reason why Sion is the perfect nuker. Sion's abilitypower==>Spell damage
Ratio is 1:1. Yes that is right. If you have 600 ability power, your abilities will do 600 more damage.
Your first item you get is a amplifying tome and a hp pot. Hp gives you survivability and the tome helps you build either your mejal or shoes. After completing your mejal's and your shoes, you can choose whatever way you want for the remaining 4 items. IMO get Lich bane first.
To justify my statements this is what happens if Sion has all 6 items. He will have around 600 Ability Power
1. Death's Caress can either a) absorb 920 damage or b) deal 920 damage
2. Stun will do 900 damage
3. Death Caress will be able to wipe out a single minion wave. If enrage is on while you do this and enrage is lvl 5, you will get about 20 Permanent Hp
4. If you have Lich Bane, then everytime u use a skill your damage goes up by 600
THis is the Combo
Shield, Attack (600), stun (1500), Attack (2100), Manually Explode Shield (3020), Attack (3620). Thats right. If you follow the combo, you will do about 3620 damage to enemy not counting magic resistant. This is normally enough to kill of a single champion.
1. Teleport lets you easily travel to set up ganks
2. Sion has bad mana in beginning so Purity will make up for it.
You should lane with a champion with a slow. Often gank so you can rack up ability points from Mejal and also use it for mana refill.

I prefer exhaust, for its chasing/anti-physical carry capability, over clarity. Early mana is hard to come by so I would usually run a chalice (or phil stone if you like), and limit stuns for kills or escapes. Clarity just doesn't provide enough as is, maybe if it gets buffed AP sion would be a decent candidate.
I would also run mercury treads over sorc boots (which are really underwhelming boots), you are going to want as much MR as possible, and lich/sceptor/boots/chalice (till end game) give you a substantial amount. He does scale great with AP, but 500 is better than 600 if it means living.
The lower the level of opponents the more you can just spam AP and wreck havoc. AP sion is amazing in mid and below level games. Unfortunetely, he losses a lot of potency lategame when MR starts getting stacked, so if the game lasts super long, I recommend selling all your gear and shifting to a phyical dps/tank build, since you will usually have excess gold in 50+ min games with shield farming. His shield goes down almost instantly even with AP late game, as the mitigation is pre-armor, so basically 1/3 of the 900 one might think.
Otherwise, its a solid guide, although I am not terribly sure it differs in anyway from the already posted AP sion stuff.

ok ok The timat Aoe damage to surounding enemies Does it return HP to u im not talking about the initial damage to the target im talking about the extra damage to aoe'd targets is it calculated in the fourmale if so he is So SO SO over powered combined with an Anti magic Sheild he's very powerfull think about it
when i play sion i start with 2 hp pots + sapphire crystal and i use ghost and teleport as summoner spells.
@lane i just farm till i got my sheen rdy maybe i get a kill maybe not who knows...
but the fun starts when u got sheen :D
after sheen sorc boots and soulstealer.
the point is i think sheen is a better first item than soulstealer and ghost is just perfect to get kills/dive towers!
I just tried this a couple of times, and i must say, i never thought that a guy like Sion could have THIS kind of nuke. Any non-tank hero is just so easy to kill with these items!
Though, i'd prefer exhaust from clarity, since after level 10ish there is no problems with his mana at all! I prefer dorans ring from tome at start though, since it provides health, MP5 and AP, while you can still get a health potion. It makes you able to use your abillities more often.

I couldn't agree more. Sheen is easily one of the BEST damage increasing items early-game, especially on heroes like Sion. And it also adds CRUICAL Mana and a bit of AP as well.
As for addressing his Mana problems further, that usually depends on the game Im in. Are the opponents Caster-Heavy? If so Ill almost always get a Chalice of Harmony, and compliment it with Merc Treads.
As far as BOOTS are concerned...well...I use Magic Pen. runes (+16 magic pen on my page) and that innately gives me Sorc Boots bonus -- allowing me to go for merc treads (as i noted above) or Swiftness/Mobility Boots. Faster Sion = even LESS chance for enemies to escape.
--Of course if Im doing VERY well and therefore going with a pure-AP Mejai's build...then the ADDITIONAL 20 Magic Pen. on the Sorc boots becomes very appealing; especially if you stack a Void Staff on top of all that.
I used to play AP sion (sion is my main)
but Ever since I developed a strong build for DPS sion (and runed for it)... there's just no point playing AP anymore, DPS sion is just amazing
I will only pick AP sion if my team lacks other spelldamage
to clarify: AP Sion needs an EXTREMELY good early game to be powerful in late game teamfights, whereas DPS sion is simply devastating in a teamfight with ult+cleanse
