Tournament Rules – Elimination Stages

Map: Practice Mode Summoner’s Rift (Summer)
Format: PREMADE5v5
Mode: Draft Mode
Matches: Best of Three; The championship match will be a best of three series with the winner of the upper bracket holding a 1-0 advantage. The upper bracket winner needs only to win one match while the consolation winner must win two matches in a row.
Maximum Roster Size: Five (5) primary players and two (2) alternate players for a maximum roster size of seven (7) players.

  • Teams are not required to designate alternate players, but may choose to do so. The alternate player may be used to replace a primary player who is absent during any part of the elimination stages.
  • Only 5 players are eligible for travel and accommodations to the WCG Grand Finals. Teams must make their final roster selections before submitting information for travel accommodations (see below).

(A) Eligibility
On August 2nd the top 1500 players will be posted on leagueoflegends.com. These players are the only players eligible to be included as members on a team for the elimination stages.

(B) Registration
Between August 4th and August 5th, 128 team slots will be opened for registration. A registration URL will be distributed to all eligible players. Team applications should be submitted by a team captain and will be reviewed for eligible members and complete information. No obscene team names will be accepted. After a team roster is submitted and confirmed, no further roster changes will be allowed. A team captain must have the consent of all members that he or she list on the team roster. Team captains that fail to obtain consent and are suspected of providing false or misleading information will be disqualified from the competition at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
In the event that over 128 eligible complete team applications are submitted, then the tournament director reserves the right to expand the tournament by one additional round in order to accommodate the additional teams.

(C) Tournament Procedure
The first four (4) rounds of the tournament will be hosted in a best of 3 (bo3) single elimination format. This format will be used until there are 16 teams remaining. Matches for these rounds may be played at anytime once the team pairings are announced, but the default match day and time is listed below.
  • Round of 64: Saturday, August 7th @ 8PM CST
  • Round of 32: Thursday, August 12th @ 8PM CST

Match results should be sent to wcgna@leagueoflegends.com

(F) Player lag or disconnections

It is the responsibility of each player to ensure the quality and security of their hardware and internet connection. Players should test their connections and stop all downloads on their respective networks before beginning a game.

In the event of a connection issue or disconnection, match play will continue without interruption. Team captains are not allowed to dispute a match on the basis of lag or a disconnection. If a player disconnects, then they can and should reconnect as quickly as possible.

If a player cannot continue to the next match due to latency issues, then they must be replaced with an alternate player. If they cannot be replaced, then the shorthanded team will forfeit.

(G) Server or game crashes

If a server or game crashes and disconnects ALL players from BOTH teams, then that game is immediately concluded. The game will be replayed from the beginning unless the following condition is met:

(If one team has a +2 ratio of inhibitors up, then that team will be declared the winner. Example #1: Team blue has destroyed 2 purple inhibitors while team purple has destroyed zero.
Example #2: Team purple has destroyed 3 blue inhibitors while team blue has only destroyed one.

(H) Substitutions

Teams may substitute players between each game if they choose to do so. There is no limit to the amount of substitutions that can take place as long as the members are rostered.
