We have begun updating old textures as a small band-aid, though some of those have met some resistance. We are learning from that feedback, so keep it coming. Bacon will make a serious post if there is a need or a desire on her end. Being that she's QA there's not much for her to discuss that's a typical hot topic as we don't ever want to put pressure on other disciplines. The same for me, I can't answer most questions like release times, balance, etc with any sort of authority. You wanna talk about a pose? hell yeah.

EDIT: Since a few of you guys love to take things out of context of informative posts: Smaller scope changes to old champions like run cycles are done typically when somebody is blocked (ie for animation the proxy on a new skin isn't made yet and we finished our previous stuff). VU team does the big full reworks: Twitch/Heimer etc where the champion gets a new model, rig, effects, animation set, and voice.

This is purely the Sivir splash completely failing at what it is purported to convey. A haymaker is a dramatic exaggeration of a straight punch. Sivir's splash is swinging with the wrong end of the bat.
Since we're calling me out on my job:

I agree with you if I look at this pose as her landing from a leap, yes it's completely wrong and weird. But I'm 98% sure splash intended for this to be the last step of a run into a throw (especially since Sivir does not have a leap in game)

The splash in my mind is the final step in her run as she changes directions slightly to the camera before she boosts off her leg to throw her weapon. In this case with the direction she appears to be moving from vs throwing you would not push off from the leg on the same side of your body as the arm you are throwing with. That would be a weak throw.

When you make a pose such as that in animation, you feel it, you don't actually 'see' it.

That pose can easily be utilized in a powerful throw animation as her arm flies out radially around her, her torso rotates upwards into a strong contrasting "up" pose completely changing silhouette. The contrasts in posing would sell it really hard.

Feel free to frame by frame our recent character's animations and you'll quickly start to notice some really crazy poses you never knew existed and you'll understand better where I'm coming from.

After reading your post talking about landing from a leap, I'm sure we're both seeing different actions here. Maybe it still doesn't belong in a splash as it appears many people are seeing it from a much different perspective as me. That's for the splash team to decide.

Finding somebody who's awesome at their craft and an awesome person who fits our culture makes it tricky. We have a lot of top talent walk in our doors and not get offered a job. Holding on to people once we get them is easy. We don't place on the top of "best companies to work for" charts for nothing. We have so much top industry talent here who could submit their resume anywhere in the industry and get a job if they wanted, but choose to stay with Riot. RiotBamDragon? He's been in the industry since the 90s working on very well known things (Goldeneye). Talking with him before getting hired was what made me 100% sure I was making the right choice. If this dude calls Riot home after working at countless studios and then spends a lot of nights a week playing community games on his own time, there's got to be something great about the company.

When you hear those rumors of "Rito forces employees to work 12 hour days" the only truth in that is people working 12 hours, Riot forces nothing (we do ask you do 8 a day though)...some employees choose to work 12 hour days to finish stuff faster because they love what they do and want to get their content out to the players one patch sooner. I frequently work 9-10 hour days spending my lunch and dinner playing a round or browsing the forums because I absolutely love my job and the game. I don't have to do this, I can easily just say "hey the scope is too high on this, I can't go forward with this extra stuff" and go home a few hours earlier or I can just bust my ass and make a skin just a little bit cooler for no extra cost on the player's end (ex. I didn't have to give Mecha Malph a new run cycle, or spend my morning before work writing this post)


The reason Riot is such a large company and still manages to be stretched for resources at times is that in the last few years we've decided that outsourcing almost all of our stuff doesn't produce consistent top quality results. Other companies dedicate much smaller teams to their games, this is because they outsource a majority of their art assets. Nothing wrong with that at all, we still do outsource some things, but there are hassles that come with it that we decided we didn't want to deal with all the time. Because Riot isn't actually cheap, we now have things like a 30+ man skins team full of 100% skins dedicated concept artists, modelers, texture artists, animators, tech artists, producers and QA. I'm sure you've noticed the spike in quality even from last year, that's a direct result of this.


And this is all perspective from me on the art side of the company (and skins team specifically) as a fairly new employee. I don't actually know what it's like in finance, legal, or even programming. They might feel differently and I might feel differently in a few years. Riot certainly isn't all lollipops and rainbows, but the stress and hassles I've encountered are just what happens when you work in a team where everybody has equal say in a project. Luckily everybody is mature and reasonable so if somebody doesn't get their way they don't pout about it. We all know we're apart of something bigger than just ourselves and that it isn't about us and our personal wants for each project, it's about the players.


TLDR: Riot will always feel stressed for resources because every time we hire somebody new, we put that much extra work into things. Our scope creep is faster than our team's growth due to our very strict and rigorous hiring process. The second we get more animators that would free up some of my time, is the second I start taking on even more challenges to fill that free time.

The sivir piece as stated before is purposely pushed to the extreme for the action shot. As an animator, that to me is a beautiful pose, one of the best in all of our splashes. If they drew her in that pose "realistically" it'd be boring and static.

As a former technical trainer, I like your voiceover. Keep up the clear speech!

Also, people learn differently so it's important to address every facet of learning you can. Ensure you describe your concepts so someone can simply listen and understand without seeing the video (maybe they're blind... maybe they're taking notes... maybe they're an auditory learner). At the end of the video, you can address those kinetic learners' needs by exhorting them to go try it and report back in the comments. That way you cover the three major learning paths: auditory, visual, and kinetic.

Also, I love your logo. Super "eye-catching" ifyaknowwhatimean

Just a couple of things, guys - Could you make sure that your cache/cookies are cleared for the Match History websites?

Also, the dev console on Safari is accessed with Command + Option + i, for those of you using that platform.

Their increased presence, the negative impact it has on other players and the difficulty of getting rid of them makes us pretty gun shy on anything that would further incentivize bots. There are teams actively working on it though.

Like the poster above me said, my understanding is that Victorious skin tends to go to a rather dominant champion this season, which would make Diana a stretch but both Shyvana and Kha'Zix have been pretty high tier. And lord knows Kha'Zix could use a skin. He's the oldest champ to still only have a single one.

Shyvana probably has enough skins, but she's been my favourite champ since her release so I always want more. Something really snazzy and shiny.
Yeah Diana could be a stretch haha.

just to clarify im talking about with IP not RP
.. I've honestly brought around 20-30 people to this game over the 3-4 years i've been playing. Not being able to give a friend a champion I want them to learn or play (while they have to sit through a week of playing free champions to buy one they really like) has actually lost you a few players because it seemed like too much of a grind. On a related note, I think you should scale IP gains starting much higher and finishing lower after a certain amount of games. (also remove low level runes or make them free)


New animations
New taunts, dances, jokes, backing animations or whatever is easiest.

Summoner Icon
JK no-one (especially vets) want these.

Titles: (kinda related)
Unlock jax you get the title jax of all trades, unlock all champions you get title 'champion master', unlock all champions and runes and skins and challenger you get the title 'finished league'. Beat the doom bots on highest difficulty... Different titles for different things. (this as a better alternative than achievements that were removed) Possibly even with a ribbon or border to go with them.

Say.....

Damage=260(Base damage)+AP*.6(AP ratio)

As it is now, the amount healed by spellvamp would be calculated by

And with a spellvamp ratio, it could be anything. But for the example, lets say it'd be balanced at .6
So it'd be,
Healing=Damage*SV*.6(Spellvamp ratio)
