Thanks for all this feedback guys. It really is informative and insightful. It both confirms and challenges some of the things we've thought about internally. While we're still not in the pre-production phase with him yet, a lot of what's said here is what I'll have in the back of my head as we approach concepting him.

The conversation will continue both here and in the studio. I'm excited at the prospects and ideas that we can leverage when his time comes around officially.

Adding our own is something we are researching. Not saying we definitely will, or wont, but we are sincerely taking the community sentiment into consideration and investigating possibilities. What may come of that, who knows.. but it's not something we've closed the book on.

We shall not discourage them for going after their dreams. Instead, we shall take revenge for the allies that have died for their loyalty and commitment! We shall take revenge for the allies that have sacrificed their life! We shall end the game early to reduce the death of purple minions! Since this is a hot topic again, let me outline some clarity on why programs like Curse Voice, Razer Comms, and others are considered against our policies.

We do not have an issue with people using voice chat, per-say. Skype, Ventrilo, Teamspeak, we know these things are used regularly and that's fine. Our concerns are when programs interact with the game (during the champion select lobby experience for example) and prompt you with overlays that say "Hey, people on your team are running XYZ software. Click here to chat with them." That's where our concerns come in as this is doing several things, including breaking the "should not interfere with the player experience from Play to End of Match Screen".

I also want to point out you're perfectly fine to have curse voice installed and use it with other games, we wont ding you for simply having it. We're even working with them to hopefully find a solution where everyone, especially the players, win.

Hey guys, I just wanted to pop in here. It is NOT ok to use Curse Voice yet. Yes they removed timers, but there are still other concerns we had outlined in our original statement regarding voice chat and overlays. (timers were only 1 of three issues we had with the application at that time.) We're working closely with Curse to help them make changes that will fit within the guidelines of our ecosystem, so hopefully in the future it will be in the clear once more, as we DO want this to work out well for everyone. However, at this time nothing has changed since our last posting about the issue a few weeks ago.

Hey guys,
Thanks a ton for all the feedback. Am reading through the whole thread.

Again, it's unlikely these changes will happen. I'm just spitballing with you guys to better understand Diana's identity and what could be done with her.

Some general trends I'm picking up:
Assassin pattern would be missed.
What's a "fighter" anyways and how does that help define a champ's identity?
R damage spike at 6 would be important to laning and sorely missed.
Maybe switch R and E?
If she doesn't just kill a guy how does she survive in a fight?

Will try to respond to some of this stuff later this evening when I get more time. Gotta get back to work on next champ D:

When you pick Taric you aren't going for CC/Peel bot like Leona, Thresh, or Braum. You are picking a jack of all trades. Hugely tanky, deals good damage with insanely low cooldown if you combo his spells properly, has that solid CC, fair sustain, and gives his team THOUSANDS of gold in bonus stats. I feel like Taric should just be buffed slightly, not reworked AGAIN.
Complex as in his theme and intended experience.

There's one side of Taric which was probably the intended experience when he was first under development. One which probably more or less equates to League's version of a paladin. That was certainly flavored a lot. However, with the execution capability of the time, a lot of Taric is currently up for interpretation due to execution. That has lead us to what is currently perceived by players. A character that has very much taken on a life of it's own beyond (I'm assuming) the intended experience.

One initial direction was more or less intended to be "serious", while the current state of Taric has taken on a very flavorful, sometimes comedic, level of over-the-topness, shown in how we create memes around him, the perception that he's flamboyant, etc.

So, with the original intention in mind (which by the way, wouldn't be considered to be "serious) and the current experience, how should we balance the two? I'm interested in hearing ideas.

My gut is to move him towards someone who's powerful yet has a certain elegance. Is a lover of beautiful things, someone who cherishes life, and channels that into his abilities and personality. My feeling is that he really should embody a paladin experience but one which doesn't take itself too seriously. Tropes that come to mind Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers from GoT or Lancelot from the Arthurian tales. A certain amount of vanity from such characters like Vega from Street Fighter (but not a bad guy). All in all someone who's got a lot of flavor, but provides satisfaction that you as the character are being valiant, kind and heroic enough to save the day with your plays.

I think it's key that he has an innate tanky feeling. He should feel like he can slam down his hammer and deal decisive blows, but also be the one sacrificing for his team, bringing his healing and magic to those he's supporting.

I dunno if that makes sense, that's at least my gut. I'm very curious to hear any and all thoughts.

Hrrmmmm...

I have some thoughts on Diana. Wondering what you guys think. Not saying any of this will actually happen. Just spitballing.

Hypothesis: Diana is NOT an Assassin. She is an "agile fighter" with a vacuum.

My opinion is that if we continue to sell Diana as "The tanky assassin with no outs." She's never going to be balanced. If she's ahead she just crushes you with no recourse and if she's behind she just dies every fight because she can't get out. On top of that she's always going to be fighting with Akali, Fizz, and the like for viability because we've had to nerf her "vacuum" out of the game to make her assassin pattern more manageable.

To me, the most unique thing about Diana is her vacuum (if we were to make it work like one). That's something that she can bring to the team that no one else in her class has. She could be this fighter who's focused, not on one-shotting squishies, but on diving into the enemy team and knocking them all together, setting up for things like Rumble and J4 ults.

Basically I'd want to shift power out of her burst pattern and put it into her Vacuum and sustained damage (passive)

Proposed change list:
Stats - Increase Base AS
P - Greatly increase base damage and AP ratio
Q - Decrease AP ratio
W - Unchanged
E - Turn into an actual vacuum (increase pull distance and radius)
R - Remove Damage (Lowers burst and incentivizes using for movement, no more double tapping a guy 2 feet from you to secure a kill)

Thoughts? Is something like this what you'd want as a Diana player? Is removing the assassination pattern a big no-no? Is putting another vacuum into League super unhealthy?

That said, are you guys ever going to say anything on fighters beyond "we don't like how they work today"?

I feel like y'all have been beating around this bush for years. None of the fighter reworks really work -- not Skarner, not Olaf, not Rengar, not Master Yi. If we're going to need a new vision of how fighters work in order to get fighter reworks we can actually play in serious games, I'd say it ought to be a higher priority.
Well, I'm unfortunately not the best person to ask. What I do know is that I do understand.. as much as an artist can understand.. the predicament designers are in when it comes to fighters.

This is the most anecdotal and non-professional opinion ever, but my amateur guess would be that once a broad analysis is done, more broad strokes can be made in terms of fighters, past and future. At least with some of the insight I've seen on the side of ChampUp, where a lot of those heavier balance and mechanics changes now happen, I feel it's going to take a broad initiative and some good analysis.

I know :/

Vesh was looking into it for a bit, but I don't think she's going to be hot on the priority list right now. As has been said, there's some other really serious champion mechanics that are being looked into.

She's considered a "high value target", but at the moment, there are just higher value targets above her. I think she's going to go through the same analysis that game designers have talked about in terms of where fighters stand in LoL in general.

She'll have her day.. er.. night, rest assured

Think of it this way, the purple minions will be retired to a honest, organic rune-farm where they can spend all day free of the dangers such as towers, champions and the foul smites of the overlords.

The purple minions are safe. Lobby instead for the poor, poor, red minions which take their place.

Alistar is a topic that is near and dear to my heart, so I can't help but hop into this conversation (and maybe I can spark some more discussion?) I don't normally make large posts so forgive me if I seem disorganized.

Looking Back

Personally when I think of Alistar there is really only one vision that I can see of him, His Q, W, and R all work together extremely well to create a feeling of an unstoppable juggernaut throwing enemies around. This pattern is appealing, and it's thematic. But when we start looking at his passive and his E it becomes pretty apparent that those abilities are really only there to add some sort of function that we wanted him to have in the game... If we look at his history, Alistar used to have a passive where he would deal increased damage to towers. During this time though, Alistar was considered one of the strongest, if not the strongest support. His E had a super low mana cost which allowed him to sustain both himself and his partner, while his kit allowed him to both hard engage and disengage whenever he wanted. This posed a problem for the balance team at the time, how can you make a character with those capabilities work in the game? Who can even fight that guy?
So they saw the passive, realized it wasn't really meshing with what Alistar had become in the game, and figured it was a good way to kill two birds with one stone by changing the passive and by this opening a whole new role to the cow - Jungle.

This is where things started to go downhill for poor Alistar. Now in the jungle, the level 2 gank became the primary strategy in every level of play, and Alistar was king. No one could ever lane safely in top without hiding behind their tower for so long they lost their lane. So we were forced to hit Alistar again, knocking him out of the jungle but also severely hurting support Alistar because he was deemed too dangerous - Rightly so, if I might add.

Passive

Long story, but here's my point - If we look at the reasons why Alistar was taken down a few pegs we can more clearly see what the problems he is facing are. Firstly, Trample as a skill sounds cool thematically but in reality the ability is almost purely there to make Alistar work in the jungle, which we have seen in the past can wreak havoc on the game because of the sheer amount of control he can bring into a gank at so early a level (see also the roaming support meta). I personally believe that a small dot in an area around Alistar is not something players have become attached to. Clearly if we are speaking of rework level this passive is completely free to go. I do think though, that when you speak of adding a slow or some other effect to the passive you hit really hard on the next two abilities, Q and W. I absolutely love these abilities.

What other character in the game can make all of his enemies feel like ragdolls to be thrown around? It seems to me like what Alistar players really want is a true reason to be in the thick of the fight after they have tossed some guy out and thrown the rest of his team into the air. A slow on the passive could be a reason, but we could also truly attempt to define Alistar's pattern and give him a reason to be in the fight for the next 10 seconds other than "my Q will be up sometime...". I'm not going to get into too much detail here 'cause I think most people will agree that those abilities are fun (though I do think the W - Q combo actually detracts from his gameplay, but we can talk about that later maybe).

Heal

The next problem is one you've already mentioned in your post. Alistar's heal. If we look at this objectively, Alistar's heal is actually critical for him to function in lane as a support. As a melee with no way of trading, only going all in, his only fallback pattern when he is in trouble or not wanting to full on engage is to sit back and spam his heal button like mad. At a functional level, this works. Alistar can stay healthy enough to be in the lane, Alistar can play a bit forward in lane to zone, and Alistar can help make up for his AD carry getting hurt in trades or making a misplay. The problem we run into here though comes when Alistar can afford to do this continually. Alistar becomes a machine for soaking damage, and while being able to maintain huge all in threat he is able to top himself and his ally off. Functionally making the enemy have no choice but to either play passively (and be bored or lose to an enemy hypercarry - bleh) or go all in and fight one of the best all inners/counter engagers around.
So lets say we want to do something about Alistar's heal. We can pretty safely assume that an Alistar kit without any form of sustain would mean that the only thing he could do is fight against Leonas and play exactly like her - all in or nothing. But it needs to go right? So we now have two slots open on our kit with the idea that Alistar is going to need some way of actually staying in lane as a functional support who doesn't need to all in constantly. Let's pocket that idea for now though.

Ultimate

The last thing I really like about your post is the idea of Alistar's ult "super bodyblocking". I agree with your point that Alistar's ult is a bit hard to read (what do I need that AD for?), but what I would say is that currently gaining near invincibility is actually one of the main draws of playing Alistar. W - Qing into a team and pressing R and being in the thick of the fight is an awesome experience. I actually believe the problem doesn't lie in the fact that Alistar wants to get into the fight and soak damage, it comes from the fact that the rest of his kit doesn't produce anything for Alistar to do once he's gotten into the fight. Right now the ult just tells you to punch things, but Alistar doesn't want to punch things at all, he just wants to run next to people so he can stun them. This is probably the last of the core problems to identify.

Concluding Thoughts

So let's summarize. The passive is pretty much meant for Alistar to do something that has been deemed unhealthy for him to do (and let's be honest, was never very interesting gameplay-wise). In a world where Alistar's E doesn't cost a ton of mana he cannot be removed from the lane and he can just let his ally whittle you down until he decides to all in you. And quite simply half of his R just doesn't fit with his pattern at all. I believe we can keep the core identity of Alistar intact with the Q, W, and the tankiness of the R, which leaves us quite a bit of room to attempt to make up for the things we've removed: A healthy fallback pattern in lane, and actions to take while in the middle of a fight.

Hope this helps further the discussion. I've been trying some stuff out on Alistar in a non-official way, and as I begin making some progress I will be sure to come back for further discussion of what is working, what isn’t and what the future might hold for Alistar.

Compare the dirt or the grass on the old summoners rift to the new one, and you'll immediately see that that the ground texture is "busier" and thus looks much more natural, as opposed to the new rift where it's basically large slabs of gray or green and then, oh, there's a crack in the rocks there or oh, there's a little tuft of grass there. It's also not layered much at all. Looking at screenshots, the old rift has grass on top of dirt at various places, while it seems with the new map you carved out sections and said. Okay... so this part will be dirt, and this part will be grass, and they're absolutely not allowed to touch. And then there's the river, which seems to be missing a bunch of lily pads and such that the old rift had.

TLR The textures of the new rift are unrealistically flat and uncluttered, which makes it visually uncomfortable.

Keeping the playspace clean and uncluttered is a very deliberate design decision. It should help teamfights be much easier to follow.

Mainly just because she needs.. something. Standard humans with very little in terms of memorable weapons, costumes or body types are difficult to assign uniqueness. Leblanc is a mage with a staff and a cape. Can't get more ubiquitous than that! So, if she's going to occupy some standard mage territory, we can at least make her look like a cool mage. Mainly I'm looking for shapes that we could preserve, so maybe even at a glance, if there's nothing even really similar in costume from a pre-VU state to a post-VU state, the head thingy, the collar, cape and staff can at least immediately say LeBlanc.

We try to be transparent on what we do and why we do it: that's why we're doing things like patch previews, post content ahead of time for feedback on PBE, write dev blogs and interact directly with players in the forums, twitter, reddit and such. Unfortunately, there are things about which we can't say much until we have something to deliver.

For instance, take a project that is still in an early stage and is undergoing a lot of testing and revision. Anything we show you is going to create excitement and set expectations, but what we actually launch might end up being very different, to the disappointment of a great many people who were anticipating something else. Sometimes, we find along the way that what seemed like a great idea turns out to just not to be fun in practice, and simply never release it because it would've been a pretty bad player experience. We messed up bad with Magma Chamber on this one, for instance.

Another example would be projects that are large in scope and technically complex. Sometimes these things change mid-development, or we find out that some problems were more complicated than we anticipated. Particularly when you're doing new things, deadlines can slip. If we promise stuff and fail to deliver, you have a right to be pissed at us. We'd rather under-promise and over-deliver!

Finally, there are projects that we simply have to be vague about for security reasons. Security often plays out like a cat-and-mouse game in which hostile parties come up with creative new vectors for attack and we come up with counter-measures. Spelling out in detail what those counter-measures will be ahead of time amounts to giving these people advance notice, and making them less effective. For instance, we're working on solutions to reduce or eliminate the pain that players feel from DDOS and drophack attacks, but we can't really talk about what or how.

We recognize that East Coast players are not getting the same quality of service that West Coast players do—and we're committed to doing something about that. Wiser heads than mine are working on this. Unfortunately, if their work hits any of those points—and almost any solution will—there's just not much we can say until it's ready or near-ready. It's frustrating to you because it feels like we're not listening, and it's frustrating for us because there's nothing that we want more than to show all the cool stuff we're doing to make League of Legends better—but there are good reasons for it.

In the meantime, all we can do is apologize for not being good enough, thanking you for your patience, and telling you that we're working on it.

I love LoL for its gameplay and its art design, and I have always loved the style changes that you guys have implemented (like including people like Darius and Braum along your more "cartoony" characters like Annie and Alistar, all of them seem to fit well and your visual updates I have loved every time).

In the Summoner's Rift update though, I am worried that you will make the map too dark. I like Dota 2, but I simply don't enjoy it as much and a huge factor in that for me is that the map at times feels depressing, especially on the Dire side. Seeing the preview of the SR update, the jungle seems VERY dark compared to how LoL looks now, and even the lanes seem either less color saturated or darker as well. I love that LoL is an arena, its essentially a tournament grounds, and the brightness of the map as it is now lends itself to that competitive arena feel, almost as if there are stadium lights shining down on the map. The new look really takes that feel away from me, and instead of giving that competition feel, gives it a sort of darker, more war like feel. Maybe you guys are trying to go for that style now, but I thought I would ask if that is your intended route with this update, and I'd really like to have a discussion with you about it so that we as a community can understand your direction and whether or not you want to preserve that older feel. I will always play League over other MOBA's simply because I love the mechanics and the flow of the game, but if the map is noticeably darker, I may find myself not putting as much time in as I would have in the past, despite the beauty of the new map.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to be able to talk about this with you soon!

This is definately the right place to post.

Concerning the feeling of "Darkness" in the update. We are carefully clamping the values and colors and saturation to ensure that gameplay stays really clear. This means that for teamfights to be as clear as possible the environment needs less saturated color and less value contrast than the VFX, the HUD and the Champions. Internally we call this the "4th read principle". This palate choice is not made in comparison to any other product, but just what is right for LoL long term.

It is a design choice

That being said I think we are really successful at retaining our tone out in the lanes. It is an issue that we are still wrangling throughout the map. We are listening.

Oh yeah, thought I mentioned it'd be a VGU (Visual & Gameplay Update), what used to be termed a "relaunch", the potential to scrap large chunks of the character in return for more consistency. In Irelia's case, yeah, we'd be talking about a gameplay overhaul as well. Vesh and I were casually talking about it the other day.

Welp, I'll echo what Josh was saying. Things have been busy, especially since PAX East. Relaunch, now called Champion Update has really picked up and our team is chugging along with a decent mandate on the continued improvement of the game from all three angles of character content. It's a very exciting time, one which has it's share of high moments and real challenges.

Personally, things for me have been mixed. My wife recently lost her job and that's been a big punch in the gut for us. Job loss is often coupled with feelings of depression, anxiety and other troubling emotions. It's obviously difficult for the person going through it, but it's also tough for the couple in general.

We're doing our best. My wife is working through a lot of tough emotions right now amidst the job search and I'm trying to help where and when I can. I know what she's gone though, intimately, and we're trudging through as a unit. Things are tough out there in general for a lot of people.

I'm not going to make it out like it's anything worse than what others who've been hit by the general economic downturn have faced. In many, many ways we're very blessed. We have friends, family and mechanisms in place to help us. Support is everything when someone goes through this sort of situation. It's hard to not feel devalued or unsure of one's self when losing a job. Often the psychological effects are just as traumatic as the economic ones.

That said, we're holding in there. I'll be honest. The personal situation with my wife and I has kept me away from the forums in general. Family always comes first. There's a lot that I've been tending to on that front and it's left me with little time and energy to come out here into the community as much.

So yeah. Moving on, wheel keeps turning. Thanks for asking

I apologize in advance for this huge post. I have been trying to condense the feedback from this thread over time and trickle it out into smaller digestable bits that are easier to discuss. I want to make a single post that has most of the feedback in one easy place to reference.

How to fix it:
Rotate SR 90 degrees when on purple side (Have it enabled by default but toggleable)
Flip minimap, people will call baron lane/dragon lane (Have it enabled by default but toggleable)
Fix bush textures

Being toggleable is important in case it affects performance on low spec machines in the first case, or people simply don't like it.

These are really good points. The post from 2009 was unfortunate. There are some technical/hurdles that are making that solution less than ideal. I would love to hear any ideas you may have that would improve gameplay balance on the map. I think the 90 degree idea has a lot of potential.

I actually did the most recent concept for Irelia that we have internally. Actually.. it's the only one.. Not sure if no one wanted to take her on or what.

While not being too specific, I combined aspects of the new Karma and some form language from Yasuo. Personally I feel that she should be the quintessential Ionian military commander.

Again, all of it could change.

It would, of course, be silly to assume Changes Exactly As Stated just based on your answers to those questions. I'm not trying to bait out any concrete details about where she will end up, and doubt you could/would give them anyway. I'm just curious about your individual perspective/experience/etc.
So I think the "deceiver" thing is the most interesting. I don't think it's appropriately represented at all currently aside from her.. ya know.. clone. But I think she has some untapped arcane, high-society, druid thing that could really go the distance thematically and visually. Making her this adviser/counterpart to Swain from this secret society. It almost reads like the character archetype of Melisandre from Game of Thrones. I'd love to take that idea and pump it up.

There's some cool dichotomous costuming we could do, or maybe something with masks, I dunno. I think there's opportunity, even if she is just a standard female mage in terms of basic form.

Visual markers for me that have to stay are the giant collar, cape, head thingy, half revealing dress, dual-tone color palette, that sort of stuff. Honestly just taking what she is and putting a lot of style and quality, while also integrating some sort of motif that speaks of being two-faced. I'd like to get a couple more costume elements in there that could be ported over to skins aside from just the cape and collar.

sorry if I'm asking too many questions, getting so hyped.
So.. we do have a concept for Le Blanc floating around done by Zeronis. HOWEVER. Though it's a bad ass concept, that is in no way indicative that it will get expedited. We're having our "fantasy slotting" meetings these next few weeks. That will define our priorities that will decide which champions get what sort of update and when.

Currently She's listed on the Visual and Gameplay Update section. Meaning some pretty heavy kit changes.. or so I'm guessing. To my knowledge though nothing has been done on her kit, and nothing is in the pipeline for any potential changes that may or may not happen. Again, that however might change depending on our slotting and what we prioritize.

My view, is I like to have as many cool concepts of champion update candidates handy at all times to either inform the VU/VGU directly or to at least start a conversation with when we get into pre-production.

So yeah, she's on the radar, and I'd very much like to execute on the concept that's currently hanging around, but I'm in no way sure as to what sort of timeline she's on yet.

Here's hoping sooner than later!

That singed wasn't a leak. It was a demo I did at the Gnomon School of Visual effects, it's not going to be the VU, it was though one of the experiments I was talking about. Singed needs a lot of work. I don't think I am gonna nail it on the first try. But really, please consider it fan art.
The Heimerdinger was also for the Demo, but as it turns out, a lot of the features of the sculpt I did were really embraced by the team, so we used it as a base for the Vu. There were still things changed to turrets and over all color scheme.

Lol yeah. Go Anteaters! nice mascot Irvine.

How much of a problem is to sit as a team for a few hours and have a conversation about what she supposed to be, she's always left in the corner, no love for the widowmaker
The thing about Eve, is there are several directions we can take her. Right now it's a toss up as to what we want to do with her lore. The choices made by the writing team as to her origin will largely affect what she looks like. Also if I can be candid for a second, So at Riot, everybody is a huge fan of league (duh) and everybody has favorite champions. The Relaunch Team (Now being called the Champion Update Team) tries to be very visible to the rest of the company as to what we are doing (as most teams are). Now it just so happens that sometimes we want to update a champion that a TON of people love, but for all different, and sometimes conflicting reasons. Sometimes what we the team think a champion is, turns out to be completely contradictory to what the champion has become through the lens of the community and being out in the wild. Sometimes things get too visible, and we get a flood of feedback before we even have any firm ideas of our own as a team. It takes time to sort out all that feedback. Also when this happens it's very easy to get lost, to have too many options. Eve has the potential to be a key character in the Shadow isles, she can show a side of the area that other characters like Elise have touched on, but really be the paragon of certain themes. I think we sometimes get confused in the nuances of characters sometimes I'll admit it. Sometimes we say, " We need to make this the best character it can be!" rather than "This needs to be the best X champion it can be!". So rather than make the best character ever, we strive to make the best Karthus ever, or Heimerdinger or whatever, which in my opinion is more important, and an easier goal to grasp. Does that make sense?

There are so many characters, and so many nuanced archetypes in League, that we really need to take our time sometimes. Relaunches aren't just about re-making the character with better visuals,(in the beginning that's exactly what it was I'll admit) But these days they are about giving the characters more room to grow. To get them out of their dead ends, and create a future for them and integrate them into the greater tapestry.

So your question about "How much of a problem is to sit as a team for a few hours and have a conversation about what she supposed to be?" it's not a problem, but it's an ongoing process. We don't do it just once and say "BOOM that's Eve! Josh when can you have the model done?" We do it a few times to double check ourselves, and most of the time we are able to poke holes in stuff we could have swore was solid. But we always replace it with stuff that is much stronger that only would have happened if given enough time to percolate among a group of experienced, creative people.

I understand the impatience, I really do. People love these characters, I get it. We are doing our best is all I can tell you, and when Eve VU finally does come out I hope she is what players expect and then some. I hope we can make Her more intriguing as a character and provide visuals that can instantly draw you in. Sorry for the wall of text bro, you caught Me in a typey mood.

Irvine is just too awesome for the wife and kids, So I suck it up and drive 106 miles every day to work. To keep from going insane on the 405 I listen to audio books, usually self-helpy leadership stuff, like "Seven habits" or "Art of Leadership", or I sing really really loud in my car.

The small update on the PBE for Pentakill Mord/Sona was met with heavy criticism. Are they WIPs, or finished?

Also, is Mord in the radar for a VU, at all?

Sorry for being so annoying >_>
I don't know if they are finished to be honest. I think the goal was to clean them up and make them less noisy to better fit the current lower contrast/easy read texture style we like. Since pentakill is getting some attention because of the bad ass album, I think skins team wanted to give the Pentakill skins some attention. The main complaint I am seeing is that a lot of the visual noise that was conveying metal material, has been lowered in contrast. At any rate, if they are slated for this patch then it's out, but that doesn't mean we can't update a little here and there after the fact. As for a Morde VU, hell yes! Most likely next year though...maybe...don't hold me to that.

I want to answer some of your questions best I can.

1. How is work going for the Champs? Pretty good.

You know just making them and stuff. No biggie.

2.How many do you actively work on at a given time?

Well, I like to work on three and a given time. One in final polish, one in hard core production mode, and one in early conceptual phase. It's like juggling.

3.A Rioter said not too long ago that there were 10 VUs last year and that there should be more this year. Since Rioters have said that they've gotten the team more together and running more efficiently, will there be 10 or more VUs this year?

"Should" is a funny word isn't it? We have a lot planned, I just hope we can get everything we set out to do done! Bless that Rioter's heart for being so ambitious though.

4.Is Grump Monkey the only one who works on sculpting the champs and their skins?

Well mostly yes. I get much needed helps from time to time from Mr. Iron Stylus and Concept help from various Concept geniuses on the team (Riot Teatime, Huge n Fast) But the sculpting is largely done and supervised by yours truly.

5.Will Pantheon get a VU this year? If so, has he been started?

He is not Highest on the list. His Dragon slayer skin certainly made us re consider though.

6.Will Kassadin get a VU this year? If so, has he been started?

We have a few loose ends we need to tie up before we can get to him , but he is in our crosshairs, and we can't wait to get to him.

7.Malzahar is not discussed often but his model is in serious need for a VU. I know you guys will get to all champs eventually, but has he been discussed?

I talked about him just today! I think he might be more in line for a TU, just a fresh coat of paint and some model tweaks rather than a full on VU.

8.Do you think you can give Pantheon a traditional skin? Just for the fact that the team can go all out making him this original creative looking badass armored Rakkor, and fans who are attached to his "greek" look wont be upset. It's a win win for everyone. Please?

Ideally I would hope we theme the Rakkor around what pantheon currently is. I would want to make Pantheon feel new, but still very familiar. But thats just me. If we decide that the Rakkor are visually very different from what pantheon currently is and want him to represent that new direction, then I think a traditional skin is in order. We will see when we cross that bridge though.

9.How's the Taric and Sion progress going?

Taric is in progress, very very early steps to be honest.... But Sion is my focus these days, and he's going great. I'm Really happy with how he's turning out so far.

10.What do you love about your job?

GREAT QUESTION!!! I love how fast things move, I never get bored. I love that I can make things that millions of people appreciate. I love showing My wife and kids stuff that I worked on when it goes live, and I love the people I work with.

11.What about your job frustrates you?

I hate my Commute lol. I also wish I could get stuff done faster, but with such a huge game we try our best to be really really careful that what we release is quality stuff, so I understand. I also get frustrated with Ironstylus's hair. It's so perfect. He never has a bad hair day.
Hope I answered your questions good enough!

The Mac team, which to our knowledge only consists of Brentmeister, typically goes for a period of months without interacting with us at all. They simply don't have anyone on the Mac team who is responsible for communicating with the user base. They have no interest in working with users to create fixes for the most part. Its even more evident over here:

http://forums.eune.leagueoflegends.c...play.php?f=196

They can't even be bothered to give our European counterparts the time of day. I feel bad for them because I already cannot stand being ignored, and its much worse over there. I have let them know about these sub forums both in my support ticket awhile back, and on a couple posts here. No results.

It would not surprise me one bit if the 'Mac Client team' is actually nonexistent. I mean, the only person we know for sure that is a part of it is Brentmeister. No one knows who the other members of the team actually are, or how to contact them in any way. From our perspective it would be reasonable to assume that the Mac team only assembles from their usual Windows developers once a problem they deem important needs a fix to be created. Don't forget that they didn't even test patch 3.10 on Snow Leopard before rolling it out to Live servers, even though some of us warned them that it broke Mac PBE.

Many users are discouraged from posting their logs as well. Even if you can get an employee to give you a proper directory of a log file, and you can get them to actually go over it and find out what's wrong, the potential fix gets put on the back burner, forever: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com...00665#46800665

Nothing really gets done, and I just am not convinced of their practices. Its unacceptable from my point of view.

This is a bit sensationalist. We don't have a "windows team" and we don't have a "mac team". We have Software Engineers that field and prioritize bugs accordingly. Number of people posting on the forums != people working on the game. I can see where this perception began, because we had a team of engineers refactoring a large amount of code for the initial work on the OSX client.

Also, how did you get "the potential fix gets put on the back burner, forever" from my comment of

Quote:
We don't have enough information right now to prioritize this as a hotfix, so it's going to be slotted into the teams normal work/release cadence.

The team in question literally has ~80 bugs on the backlog for the patcher, any of which could take between a day and 3 weeks to fix. I would know, because I helped them prioritize them. I realize it sucks when you experience a bug and it isn't hotfixed, we're players to and we experience the same frustrations. The fact of the matter is software will always have bugs, even the software for rocket guidance.

I also completely disagree with you statement of "Many users are discouraged from posting their logs as well." We want log files so much that we took the time to write a function that auto collects and zip up all the possible log files we'd need from your computer, check the "Save logs" button in the patcher's options menu.

I get it, bugs suck. Crashes are lame. We ARE working on them, but it takes time.
